William Allen White List
William Allen White
The William Allen White Children’s Book Award is awarded to two authors each year. Children in Kansas decide who those authors will be from two lists of nominated books. This award was the first state award that the children in that state had the opportunity to choose the winner. It was started in 1952 in honor of William Allen White, a famous newspaper editor from Emporia who has a very well-known author and the winner of two Pulitzer prizes in literature. Children may vote with their class or individually online. The winners announced on the official website in late April or early May.
