COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS

USD 379 operates as a county-wide school district. This creates a unique experience that spans across two rural Kansas communities. Clay Center, KS is home to the Tigers and offers four buildings for students to transition from preschool through twelfth grade graduation. Wakefield, KS is home to the Bombers and offers a dynamic learning experience housing all student’s kindergarten through twelfth grade in one building.

The buildings located in Clay Center include:

  • Lincoln Elementary – Serving students preschool age – 3rd grade

  • Garfield Elementary – Serving students 4th-5th grade

  • Clay Center Community Middle School – Serving students 6th-8th grade

  • Clay Center Community High School – Serving Students 9th-12th grade

Garfield Elementary, Clay Center Community Middle School, Clay Center Community High School, and Wakefield K-12 Schools are all Gemini II school redesign participants.

Clay Center is home to several parks, tasty dining options including both fast-food options as well as casual-dining opportunities, various recreational opportunities, outdoor aquatic center, community zoo, recently renovated medical center, and many community events that occur throughout the year. Wakefield is home to Milford Lake which provides many wonderful opportunities for outdoor recreation and enrichment including fishing, boating, and swimming. The lake is also home to multiple educational events throughout the year. The city is also very rich in culture and has several community celebrations throughout the year for patrons to attend at their leisure.
