2024 Local Scholarships

Following are descriptions for each local scholarship available to CCCHS students. To apply, students must download and complete a Local Scholarship Application for EACH scholarship you wish to apply for. Submit all application materials to the CCCHS Counseling Office by February 29 at 3:20 p.m.

Applications should be turned in using the following order:

1) Application
2) Transcript
3) Essay (if applicable)
4) Any other requested items

Staple all items together in the top left-hand corner.

NOTE: The Belin Scholarship application is due February 16, 2024.

Avery Auto Parts 

  • Scholarship for students interested in auto mechanics, diesel mechanics, or auto body. 

  • Must attend a Kansas school and have a GPA of 2.5 or higher. 

  • One scholarship, $250.

Belin Scholarship

  • Applicants to the Belin Foundation Scholarship must meet the following: 

    • Current year graduating senior of CCCHS 

    • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree or higher

  • The selected recipient(s) will receive a $10,000 award that may be renewed for up to four years.

  • Separate application required and may be found here.

  • Applicants will be scored on items outlined in the application rubric. A maximum of four finalists will be chosen. Finalists will complete an interview with the selection committee. Selection will be made based on the greatest total point value. In the event of a tie, the applicants will be assessed on their completion of the Kansas Scholars Curriculum and their Kansas Scholar status.

Barb Carlson Stowell

  • Graduating senior with 3.5 or higher GPA

  • Have demonstrated kindness and teamwork in the classroom, high school sports, part-time work and their community and/or church, as well

  • ESSAY REQUIRED

    • One page essay about achievements, ambitions, including comments about the qualities above. The essay should include college/votech major or educational focus after high school.

  • One $1000 scholarship

Beta Sigma Phi 

  • Graduating female from CCCHS planning on going to college. 

  • Based on need, community and school involvement.

Blake Koppes Memorial Scholarship 

  • CCCHS graduate who plans to pursue a career in the medical field. 

  • One Scholarship, $500

BPW 

  • Senior girl planning to attend college or auto-related technical program.

  • ESSAY REQUIRED

    • A short essay about the role of women in business today must be included. 

  • High School activities and work experience are considered. 

  • Amount varies.

Brandon Begnoche Memorial Scholarship

  • Graduating Senior

  • 2 scholarships, $250

C&R Credit Union Scholarship 

  • Graduating senior 

  • Planning to attend a post-secondary school and major in an Agriculture related field. 

  • 2 scholarships, $500.

CCYBA in Memory of Michael Spielman - Clay Center Youth Basketball Association is pleased to offer the Clay Center Youth Basketball Association Scholarship in memory of Michael Spielman. 

  • CCYBA welcomes any CCCHS Senior who participated in the CCYBA program to apply. 

  • One or two scholarships will be awarded.

  • ESSAY REQUIRED

    • You will also need to provide an essay stating what CCYBA meant to you, which should include how many years you participated in the program. 

  •  Amount varies.

Class of 1978 

  • Students that have a GPA of 2.0-3.5 

  • Plan to attend a post-secondary school. 

  • Siblings, children, and grandchildren of the class of 1978 are ineligible. 

  • One scholarship, $1000

Clay Center American Legion Auxiliary

  • Graduate of CCCHS or WHS

  • Student plans to attend any type of post-secondary school

  • Amount varies

  • If selected Student will need to attend the June meeting to receive funds

  • ESSAY REQUIRED

    • Student must submit an essay on what America means to them and how they can be a patriotic citizen

Clay Center B's Scholarship 

  • The student must have played B's softball for at least 7 years. 

  • Must have played softball at CCCHS.

  • Amount varies.

 Clay Center Football Association 

  • Applicants must have played CCFA 

  • Plan to attend a technical school or a 2 or 4-year college. 

  • ESSAY REQUIRED

    • Students must submit an essay on what CCFA meant to them personally. 

  • 2 scholarships, $250

 Clay Center Ministerial Alliance Scholarship

  • Graduating Senior from CCCHS or WHS

  • Demonstrates a maturing faith in Christ

  • Planning to attend a vocational/trade school or 2 or 4-year college/university

  • Volunteers at their local church, school or community in some form (please mention how in your essay)

  • Letter of recommendation from your pastor and one teacher at your high school

  • ESSAY REQUIRED

    • A short essay (500 words or less) choosing ONE of the following topics:

      • Tell us your journey of faith, including areas of your life you’ve seen God change you the most.

      • Tell us what your vocational plans are for the future and how you envision your faith intersecting with your job.

      • Tell us how you have seen God work in your life in this last year.

      • $500 award

 Clay County Arts Council Scholarship

  • CCCHS senior who lives in Clay County 

  • Majoring in performing or visual arts. 

  • 2 scholarships, $1000.

 Clay County Rotary Club 

  • CCCHS graduate with GPA 3.0 or higher. 

  • Citizenship, school and community involvement will be considered.

  • Scholarship amount varies. 

 Colby Barber Foundation

  • Separate application required - application form here

  • Planning to major in Agriculture or Technology

  • Graduate of CCCHS or WHS

  • One time scholarship in the amount of $1000

 Curtis and Betty Algren Memorial Scholarship - This scholarship was established in memory of Curtis and Betty Algren, long time members of the First Presbyterian Church of Clay Center. 

  • Student must be a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Clay Center, Kansas.

  • Student must be serious about education and clear in their educational goals.

  • Student must demonstrate financial need.

 Dallas and Pearl Hess 

  • CCCHS senior planning to attend vocational school and major in auto body, mechanics, heavy equipment operation or to attend college or vocational school and major in nursing. 

  • Scholarship amount varies

 Eagles Trustees 3650 Scholarship 

  • CCCHS senior planning to attend a Technical School. 

  • $250 given to both a boy and girl.

 Ed Butterfield Character Award 

  • CCCHS student with a minimum GPA of 2.75. 

  • Applicant should contribute positively to CCCHS and the community, embody positive character traits.

 Ernest Tolin Memorial/Methodist Men Scholarship 

  • CCCHS graduating senior who is active in a Clay County Methodist Church

  • Planning to attend a two or four-year college or technical school. 

  • GPA 2.5 or above. 

  • Amount varies

 First Presbyterian Church Scholarship 

  • This scholarship will be given annually to graduating seniors who are connected with the First Presbyterian Church in Clay Center. 

  • The number given and amount of each scholarship will be determined by the scholarship committee.

 Glenn and Elizabeth Adams Memorial 

  • Members of a United Methodist Church for at least 2 years will take precedence. 

  • Non-members must have been a member of a church of the Christian orientation for at least 2 years.

  • Applicants may attend college, Vo-tech, or graduate school. 

  • Financial need and the goal of the applicant will take precedence over the age of the applicant.

  • Amount varies.

Jeanne Martin Memorial Scholarship

  • Graduate of CCCHS or WHS

  • Applicant is planning to major in Education and/or Coaching

  • One $2000 scholarships will be awarded

  • Financial need will be considered

  • ESSAY REQUIRED

    •  Applicants will write ONE paragraph on why they are choosing education or coaching as a career. 

 John and Allene Lane Family Scholarship 

  • For a student going into education or medical/health field

  • 2 scholarships, one boy, one girl $250.

 Joyce Jennings Memorial Scholarship 

  • Graduating senior from CCCHS. 

  • Scholarship available for a student planning to attend any post-secondary school. 

  • One-time $1500 award

 Joyce Ortez Carlson Memorial Scholarship 

  • Shall be awarded to one graduating senior of CCCHS who pursues a cosmetology license from a recognized cosmetology school. 

  • The selection committee will consider the student's application, financial need, and school or community involvement.

  • One time amount of $1000

 Lighthouse for Christ Scholarship

  • This scholarship is available to any CCCHS graduate demonstrating a financial need.

  • Amount varies

 Lion's Club Scholarship - 

  • Applicants must have a 2.5 GPA or greater and plan to attend a post-secondary school

  • Given to 1 boy and 1 girl, $250.

 Lutheran Church Youth Scholarship

  • Student attends the Clay Center Lutheran Church

  • Amount varies

 Mark Chapman Scholarship  

  • Graduating CCCHS senior 

  • Planning to attend a 4-year college. 

  • $3000, renewable up to 4 years. 

 Morganville Lion's Club Scholarship 

  • CCCHS senior with a GPA of 2.5 or greater. 

  • ESSAY REQUIRED

    • Applicants are asked to submit an essay stating their accomplishments and goals for the future and community service work. Essay should be no more than 2 pages. 

  • Amount varies.

P.E.O. Scholarship 

  • Graduating CCCHS senior girl  

  • At least a 3.0 GPA. 

  • Priority will be given to those who have relatives affiliated with P.E.O. 

  • Amount varies.

 Renaissance Scholarship 

  • Based on Renaissance donations received during the year. 

  • CCCHS Senior 

  • Must be a student in good standing.

 Union State Bank Scholarship 

  • One $500 scholarship open to any graduating CCCHS Senior. 

  • Recipient must be attending an academic or vocational school after graduation. If the recipient does not complete the first year of school, they must reimburse USB for the amount of scholarship. 

  • ESSAY REQUIRED 

    • Please write a one-page essay on the benefits of having a local community bank in a small town.Topics could include, but not limited to, jobs, community involvement, the local economy, and local decision making. Essay must not exceed one page, single-spaced, size 12 Times New Roman. Heading should be only your name and title of your essay.
