Clay County OES Scholarship
Awarded to students attending a Clay County High School. Application can be found here. Due April 1, 2024.

The Rudd Foundation Scholarship
Eligibility requirements:

  • Graduating high school senior who plans to enroll full-time in the fall.

  • Must have a cumulative, unweighted high school GPA of 3.0 or above.

  • Must be a Kansas resident and qualify for in-state tuition.

  • Demonstrate financial need (Pell-eligible).

  • Will attend either Emporia State, Fort Hays State, Kansas State, or Wichita State University.

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or a permanent resident.

The Gates Foundation Scholarship 
The Gates Scholarship (TGS) is a highly selective, last-dollar scholarship for outstanding, minority, high school seniors from low-income households. Each year, the scholarship is awarded to exceptional student leaders, with the intent of helping them realize their maximum potential.
 
Selected Scholars will receive funding for the full cost of attendance to earn a bachelor’s degree, that is not already covered by other financial aid and the expected family contribution, as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), or the methodology used by a Scholar’s college or university. Costs covered include tuition, fees, books, and room and board, and may include additional personal costs.
 
TGS also provides Scholars with various online support services designed to help them excel in their degree programs, graduate, and make a successful transition to their chosen careers. These include career services, mentoring, leadership development, wellness, and knowledge building.

Eligibility requirements:

  • A high school senior

  • From at least one of the following ethnicities: African American, American Indian/Alaska Native*, Asian/Pacific Islander American, and/or Hispanic American

  • Pell-eligible

  • A US citizen, national, or permanent resident

  • In a good academic standing with a minimum cumulative weighted GPA of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent)

Additionally, a student must plan to enroll full-time, in a four-year degree program, at a US accredited, not-for-profit, private or public college or university. 

*For American Indian/Alaska Native, proof of tribal enrollment will be required.
 
An ideal candidate will also have:

  • An outstanding academic record in high school (in the top 10% of his/her graduating class)

  • Demonstrated leadership ability (e.g., as shown through participation in community service, extracurricular, or other activities)

  • Exceptional personal success skills (e.g., emotional maturity, motivation, perseverance, etc.)

Application deadline: Phase I of the application opened July 15, with a submission deadline of Friday, September 15, 2023, 5:00 PM PT.

Flint Hills Builders Association Scholarship
Flint Hills Builders Association awards scholarships to students in our community who are pursuing a career in the construction industry. The application is open to any student from Flint Hills Region high schools who will be attending a post-secondary institution (college or trade school) during the upcoming academic year. Four scholarships of $500 will be awarded; two to a two year school and two to a four year school. The deadline to apply is September 30, 2023.

Bluestem Electric Cooperative Each year Bluestem Electric Cooperative's scholarship program provides 10 scholarships totaling $9,000 (six $1,000 and four $750) to high school seniors whose parents or guardians are members of Bluestem.

Below are the eligibility requirements:

- Current high school seniors whose parents/guardians are members of Bluestem Electric Cooperative, Inc., are eligible to apply for these scholarships.

- Each applicant must be enrolled as a full-time student in an accredited university or college, including junior, community, and vocational or technical college.

- All applicants for the Bluestem Electric Cooperative Scholarships shall be considered on the above criteria without regard to race, age, color, religion, gender, national origin, or existence of a physical handicap.
 - Any Bluestem Electric Cooperative Scholarship Recipient who receives a full ride scholarship from any other source will forfeit the Bluestem Electric Cooperative Scholarship.

Tips for a successful application:

  1. Download the Neighbors Serving Neighbors booklet prior to beginning the application.  (You'll be tested on it.)

  2. Have two (2) reference letters saved and ready for upload prior to beginning the application.  (One from someone within your school and one from someone outside your school.)

  3. The Neighbors Serving Neighbors test is critical to your overall score. It is graded and getting more than one or two questions wrong can potentially eliminate you from consideration.

BigFuture Scholarships for c/o 2024 and 2025 (Starting December 2022)
Students can now qualify for BigFuture Scholarships as early as 10th grade. Students who complete one or more steps on their BigFuture dashboard, beginning with starting a career list and building their college list, will be entered into one monthly drawing for $40,000 scholarships and another for $500 scholarships. At least half of the scholarships will be awarded to students whose families earn less than $60,000 per year.

 Students can access BigFuture to begin exploring scholarships and other resources available within the platform.

Horatio Alger Scholarship Program -- for high school JUNIORS
The Association awards scholarships each year to 105 National Scholars in the amount of $25,000 and over 800 State Scholars in the amount of $10,000. 2 National Scholars will come from Kansas, with 7 receiving the State Scholar award! 

The programs are targeted to high school juniors who have faced significant adversity in their lives and demonstrate critical financial need ($55,000 or lower adjusted gross family income).   For more information, please visit this link: Scholarship Programs and Eligibility Criteria 

Elizabeth Miller Watkins Memorial Scholarship-- for female students attending the University of Kansas (KU)
This scholarship is an annual, renewable scholarship for students of all disciplines attending the University of Kansas.  A minimum of 3.0 GPA and demonstrated financial need are required.  Awards are given at $4,000 per year. 

Acacia Leadership Scholarship -- for male students attending Kansas State University
This scholarship was designed to reward male students for outstanding leadership experience and motivation to succeed, especially for those who often are overlooked for their leadership abilities. NOTE: 2024 application is not yet available. We will post it when received.

O'Brate Foundation Dual-Credit Scholarships
This foundation provides scholarships for students with limited financial means to be able to take college courses while in high school. Application information can be found here.

API Scholarship
The Western Kansas Chapter of the American Petroleum Institute (API) awards four scholarships to qualifying graduating Seniors. Each scholarship will be in the amount of $1,000 annually ($500 paid each semester) and may be renewed for up to four years.  More information coming soon.

NCK Crop Solutions Young Students In Agriculture Scholarship
Requirements: Must be a high school senior. • Enrolling in a 2-year Community College or 4 year Institution immediately following High School graduation. • Demonstrate leadership characteristics and strong academic performance. • Be active in FFA and Agricultural Courses throughout High School. • Plan to Major in an Agriculture related field in college (Agronomy Preference). • Obtain a high school GPA of 3.0 or higher. Hagen Scholarship
Hagan Scholarship. This scholarship has the potential to offer $15,000 per year for 4 years and the additional possibility of $30,000 towards graduate school. See this brochure for more information. Deadline is December 1.

 The Greg Davis and Leigh Poston Memorial Scholarship
The Greg Davis & Leigh Poston Memorial Scholarship Fund was established at the Greater Manhattan Community Foundation in 2004 by friends and family of Greg and Leigh. 

Up to $2,000 in scholarships will be awarded.

Criteria: 

  • Applicant must have attended a Kansas high school

  • Applicant must be enrolled in a building trades program (welding, construction trades/technology, construction science/management, engineering, etc.) at a two or four-year school

Scholarship Award - Applications will be reviewed by the Greg Davis and Leigh Poston Memorial Scholarship Fund Selection Committee and students will be notified with the outcome of their application.
