Kansas Governor Laura Kelly has announced the appointment of Anita Breen of Clay Center to the Kansas Council on Developmental Disabilities to advocate for change to increase productivity, independence, integration, and inclusion of people with developmental disabilities in Kansas communities.
The Council's mission is to empower individuals with I/DD and their families to lead systems change, build capacity, and advocate for inclusive, integrated, accessible communities where everyone belongs and thrives. The Kansas Council on Developmental Disabilities serves people with intellectual and developmental disabilities through advocacy, public policy, and education.
The Council has up to twenty-three members appointed by the Governor and at least 60 percent of the members must be people with developmental disabilities or parents or guardians of children with developmental disabilities. From the 60 percent membership above, at least one-third of the appointees must be people with developmental disabilities or self-advocates.
