Today, we are excited to recognize two outstanding seventh-grade students with our "Like a Champion" Call of the Day! Azure Meireis and Kennedy Shannon have shown remarkable kindness and support towards a fellow student with exceptionalities. They work collaboratively as a team, ensuring that this student feels included and valued. By seeking common interests and fostering friendships, they create a welcoming environment at their table. Mrs. Stewart truly appreciates witnessing their compassionate actions! We are proud to call them Bengals!

Today's Bengal Spotlight Featured Department is the Science Department. The Science team has been using a curriculum specifically addressing the Next Generation Science Standards. The new curriculum includes labs, hands-on discovery, and small group investigations. It has been great and has had many benefits for our students. We are extremely grateful to have such an amazing group of science teachers! Below is a peek into the world of our Science Crew: Jason Walsh is in his second year teaching Science at CCCMS. Before teaching in this district, he taught 6th grade Special Education Math and Language Arts at Fort Riley Middle School. He grew up near Albuquerque, New Mexico and joined the Army after high school. Greg Kalivoda is a CCCHS graduate ‘Class of 1981’. He has been teaching 35 years. Teaching Physical Education and Science, in Goddard, Paola, and Clay Center since 2000. His wife of 23 years is Shannon Kalivoda (Miltonvale HS-1988), and sons William (M.S. ESU), Garett (Cpl. USMC), and Hayden (Senior CCCHS) make their home in Miltonvale, KS. He enjoys hunting, shooting, and fishing year-round, as well as spending time with his wife, boys, and brothers. Summers are spent working with his hands remodeling his home and cabin, gardening/canning, and traveling with his family. He bleeds Yankee Blue, K-State Purple (Class of 1985), and Tiger Wrestling! Craig Rickley is a proud 1983 CCCHS graduate and is in his 27th year teaching science at CCCMS. He enjoys traveling with his wife Dana, visiting his sons Brett and Thomas and their families, playing golf, and rooting on the K-State Wildcats, Kansas City Royals, and Las Vegas Raiders. He has previously coached volleyball, football, cross country, and basketball at the middle school. He is an assistant wrestling coach at CCCHS, head boys’ wrestling coach and assistant girls’ wrestling coach at CCCMS.

It was students teaching students today in Ms. Brownell's class! Mr. Walsh's 7th grade Tech Time class came to Lincoln to teach Ms. Brownell's 3rd graders how to use a program called Tinkercad to design and create items that will be made using their 3D printing machine.

Today our "Like a Champion" Call of the Day is Paxton Bennett! One of Mrs. Pfizenmaiers' stools was loose, the top almost coming off the base. She mentioned needing some Allen Wrenches to tighten it back up. Paxton brought in two sets of Allen Wrenches and led a group of boys as they worked on the chair! Way to exhibit habit one Paxton by being proactive and remembering You're in Charge!

This week, our Pillar of Leadership employee of the week is Mrs. Sally Chestnut! Mrs. Chestnut is always proactive and prioritizes things! She is always there to help students achieve their goals and expresses concerns when needed. She prioritizes the students' academic success above all else, and we are extremely lucky to have her as a Paraeducator at CCCMS.

We are extremely proud of our Wrestlers! The team had 19 4th-place finishes and above in Manhattan at The Little Apple Grapple on Saturday, November 9th. Catch them again on the mats today 4:30 in the CCCMS Gym!

Today our Bengal Spotlight Featured PAWS class is Miss Roe's. Miss Roe’s PAWS class enjoys going outside and playing football or passing a volleyball. They love to compete against other PAWS in competitions. They come in every day with great attitudes and a lot of energy. They keep each other on their toes with all of their shenanigans!

On Thursday, November 7, 2024, Clay Center Community Middle School hosted a double dual versus Wamego and Fort Riley. The Bengals walked away with a total of 18 wins. They will wrestle again on Saturday, November 9 in Manhattan at The Little Apple Grapple. The tournament will be held at MHS West Campus, 2100 Poyntz Ave. Good Luck Bengals! "Like a Champion"

Reminder No School on Monday

Today, our Bengal Spotlight Featured Team is the 7th-grade Girls' Basketball team! These girls have so much heart and continue to improve every day! Their hard work and dedication shine through. They are coached by JD Lane and Emilie Roe. Their game, originally scheduled for today vs. Anthony MS, has been rescheduled to December 2nd. Continue to play hard Bengals!

Good luck to all our Bengal Athletes today! The 8th-grade Girls' Basketball tip-off is at 3:30 at Anthony Middle School. Our Boys' Bengal Wrestlers are on the mat for the first time this season!! Come support them in the CCCMS Gym at 4:30. It is a varsity and junior varsity dual format as they take on Wamego and Fort Riley. Good Luck Bengals! We had a good day in the FFA! Our 8th-grade Ag students participated in the Middle School Ag Academy at Chapman today! Team- 2nd 1st- Hannah Cott 4th- Weston Presley 8th- Isaac Pierson All the students did very well!

Today's "Like a Champion" Call of the Day is Kate Larson. Kate has been a tremendous leader in our school, using her voice and advocating for change among her peers and school. She is leading our bullying prevention group which has brought so many students and staff together to support a more kind, inclusive, and accepting school environment! Kate lives all the seven habits daily and we could not be more proud of her! Keep advocating for change Kate!

Our Bengal Spotlight Featured Team today is our 8th Grade Lady Bengals! They started their season strong yesterday and hope to continue that in Junction City today! We are excited to watch them learn and grow this season! Dick Ahlberg and Addy Mullin Lehman are the coaches of our 8th-grade team.
