📣 Parent-Teacher Conferences & No School Reminder 📣
Thank you for a great first quarter of the school year! 🎉 It's flown by, and now we are headed into Parent-Teacher Conference Week. Hopefully your family has been contacted by your student's PAWS teacher to set up a conference time. If not, please give us a call at CCCMS: 785-632-3232 so we can get a time scheduled.
Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held:
🗓 Wednesday, October 22 – 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM
🗓 Thursday, October 23 – 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM
During conferences, your family and student will have the opportunity to visit with all of your student’s teachers. Appointment times are designed to keep lines short and make your visit quick and efficient. ✅

Mr. Lane's 6th graders are learning how to use Google Sheets and the different vocabulary they need to be successful with this application. In order to learn about cells, columns, rows, etc., they played Battleship. The students created a board and placed their boats. Then they faced off against each other to try and sink their opponents' boats first! #celebrate379
Mrs. Schooley's Industrial Arts students are continuing their initial training by learning how to use drillers and Impact drills. They practiced drilling pilot holes, installing screws, and removing screws. #celebrate379

This week, we’re shining the spotlight on our Math Department at CCCMS! ✨ We are so grateful for the dedication, creativity, and hard work of our amazing math teachers. Their passion for teaching and supporting students makes a huge difference every day.
Here’s a little more about each of our fantastic math educators below...
Megan Griffiths is in her third year of teaching 6th-grade Math. She also coaches volleyball and track at the Middle School. She is married to Cane Griffiths, and they have five children who are students at USD 379. When she is not at school, you will find her at her kids’ various activities.
Courtney Pfizenmaier is in her 8th year at CCCMS after 15 years of previous experience as an elementary teacher, elementary administrator, and STEM Coach in Geary County USD 475. Courtney enjoys watching her kiddos' extracurricular activities, reading, landscaping, and drinking Dr. Pepper.
Jay Sleichter teaches 8th-grade math.

Ms. Mellies finds unique ways to help her students learn. Today, she used the Blooket website to help students review for an upcoming end-of-quarter test. It is a contest of speed and knowledge that pits the entire class against each other! Study hard tonight for tomorrow's test! #celebrate
Mrs. McDonald has a unique way of helping her Family and Consumer Science students learn while also giving them some autonomy during the week. She creates a playlist of activities that all students must complete by the end of the week. Then they can work independently or in small groups to complete each assignment. Right now, her 6th graders are finishing up a nutrition unit. #celebrate379

Mr. Brummett was surprised this morning by friends, family, and Dr. Lyndsey Brown as the Kansas School Counseling Association Counselor of the year for the state of Kansas! He was first announced as one of three finalists for the award (which only a handful of 379 people knew), but then was announced as the winner (which nobody knew)!
Nobody cares more about kids than Mr. Brummett, so he is extremely deserving of this award. CCCMS and USD 379 are honored to have the best counselor in the state right here in Clay Center! #celebrate379
