We are so pleased to share with you the news that our 2021 Konza Prairie Teacher of the Year is Mr. Greg Kalivoda!
Mr. Kalivoda is a dedicated and caring professional, one who understands the importance of experiential learning. He began bringing his science classes out to Konza in 2013, having them participate in guided hikes and driving tours.
In 2017 Mr. Kalivoda participated in the Konza Summer Teachers' Workshop, a week-long immersion into the science of our station and the ecology of the tallgrass prairie. Because he participated in that Workshop, he became qualified to bring his students to participate in our hands-on science activities. These activities are specific to our site and are based on the kind of research done by University scientists. His students regularly take part in the Stream Chemistry and Stream Macroinvertebrate activities.
Since 2013 Mr. Kalivoda has brought over 600 students to Konza Prairie! In a year where many teachers are experiencing burnout or changing fields, Mr. Kalivoda remains committed to the science education of his students. We applaud him!

Congratulations to Mr. Brummet on receiving the 2022 KCA Distinguished Service Award at the annual Kansas Counselors Association Conference, (KCA), held this week in Manhattan.
What an exciting night for both our 7th and 8th grade boys basketball teams!! 8th grade ended there season with an amazing 3rd place win against Wamego ending score was 45-42. 7th grade got 4th place in a triple OT thriller in the 3rd place game 52-49 final score. Great job Bengals on an awesome season! #bengalstrong

Both games will tip off at 4:30 pm. 7th Grade will play in Chapman vs Wamego for the first round, they are asking Clay Center Fans and Parents to sit on the South Side of the District gym, second round game will begin at 5:45. 8th will play in Marysville vs Chapman, second round will begin at 6. #BengalStrong

Thank you CCCMS for collecting 310 food items to be donated to the Lighthouse. Mrs. Roth’s PAWS class won with 62 items. A big thanks to the food drive committee who headed this school service project!!
Reminder Student Council will be sponsoring a formal dance (not activity night - formal attire is not a requirement) Tonight from 6 p.m.-7:30. Music, dancing, and concessions will be available. All funds raised will be donated to the St. Jude's Children Research Hospital.
