USD 379 has a District Leadership Team that meets throughout the year to work on our 5-year action plan and goals. Yesterday, leaders from each building came together to look at data, review district and building goals, and prepare for our annual presentation to KSDE, which is required of every school district in Kansas. #celebrate379

Celebrating the Thanksgiving season, and the fact that we are so thankful for our well-behaved students, the Bus Barn decided to pick 2 winners for the November “School Bus Behavior Campaign Award”.

School, Family, Community Connections Counselor Lisa Last is once again offering the following parenting classes:

- The Parent Project (for parents of kids 11 and up)
- Loving Solutions (for parents of kids under age 11)

Both of these will start in January. Classes are FREE and will meet weekly over Zoom for 10 weeks. These classes are great for ANY parent, but especially helpful for parents of challenging kids. Please share the attached flyers with your colleagues and/or families! These classes are for any family in our area, regardless of school district. #celebrate379

Today is National Substitute Appreciation Day! Did you know that USD 379 has 57!! active subs? We would literally not run without these dedicated people who sign up sometimes 4-5 days a week to help our kids! These photos are just a few of them in action yesterday.

Most of these individuals are retired teachers who continue to give back. But it doesn't have to include just them! Some details:
Certified subs are paid $120 a day.
Classified (hourly) subs start at $13.40/hr and go up based on degrees and experience.
Long-term subs are paid $155 per day after the 10th consecutive day of subbing.

The fire department was called to Wakefield School at the end of school today because of what appears to be an HVAC issue in the gym. Although it doesn't appear to be serious, no one will be allowed back into the building until the issue is resolved.

When our fantastic teachers are gone, USD 379 is very fortunate to have fantastic subs! One of these is Mrs. Crimmins, who is one of many former 379 teachers who work as a part-time substitute. They are an important part of our team!
