As a part of Bullying Prevention Month, USD 379 celebrated Unity Day on Wednesday, October 15 (we celebrated a week earlier because of Parent/Teacher Conferences next week). This annual national event brings students and staff together to send a visible message of building commUNITY through kindness, acceptance, and inclusion. BIG NEWS FROM LINCOLN ELEMENTARY!
Today, Mr. Nelson, Mrs. Lane, and Ms. Coughlin surprised special education teacher Marcy Schooley with the announcement that she was named the USD 379 Elementary (grades Pre-K-5) Teacher of the Year! She will now have the opportunity to compete for the Kansas Teacher of the Year award.
Mrs. Schooley has been in education for 43 years and has impacted literally thousands of students over her teaching career. Congratulations from Lincoln Elementary and USD 379! #celebrate379

Mr. Brummett was surprised this morning by friends, family, and Dr. Lyndsey Brown as the Kansas School Counseling Association Counselor of the year for the state of Kansas! He was first announced as one of three finalists for the award (which only a handful of 379 people knew), but then was announced as the winner (which nobody knew)!
Nobody cares more about kids than Mr. Brummett, so he is extremely deserving of this award. CCCMS and USD 379 are honored to have the best counselor in the state right here in Clay Center! #celebrate379

2025-25 USD 379 Teachers of the Year Leah Knitter and Alisha Brownell attended the Kansas TOY banquet last weekend. Besides being recognized as the elementary and secondary TOY representatives from Clay County, they also got put into teams and made plans to attend each other's schools during the school year. It's a great way to bond and gain insight and ideas from others! Congrats to both on their recognition! #celebrate379

Each driver nominates a regular rider who exemplifies good behavior and shows respect for both the driver and the other passengers. All nominees were put in a hat, and one name was drawn as September's winner.
