Mr. Roberts' Chemistry class burned Flaming Hot Cheetos to calculate the amount of energy (Calories) contained in them. Students measured the energy by using calorimeters (pop cans) and water. They learned that not all Calories were used to heat up the can. They also learned that Cheetos make great fire starters! #celebrate379

Today, English 10 students are creating their own “Life is an Adventure” belts in the spirit of Chris McCandless from the novel, “Into the Wild,” which the class is reading. As a backdrop, Mrs. Reichert's students are listening to the 80’s band “Supertramp,” who inspired our book’s protagonist to take on the alias, Alex Supertramp. #celebrate379

An inspiring story of innovation, problem solving, and students helping students...
Chase is a 4th grader at Garfield. He is working on expanding his communication skills using buttons with prompts. This is new to Chase, and he struggles at times accidentally hitting the wrong buttons. It was a problem that Speech and Language Therapist Shanna Freeman thought could be solved.
That's where Mrs. Schooley’s CCCHS drafting students came in. After learning about the problem and brainstorming, they designed custom button covers for the communication device and then printed them on a 3D printer. These will allow him to greet his peers and teachers and answer questions without other buttons getting in the way.
After a need was identified, these students created a solution that works perfectly and will help Chase connect more easily with others at school. This is a great example of students using their skills to make a meaningful difference! #celebrate379

Today, the Class of '26 completed a major part of their four-year Individual Plan of Study (IPS) with their senior presentations. Each senior created a presentation that can be used later as part of a job or scholarship interview. Community members took time from their busy schedules to help judge these presentations and give feedback. It was a great real-world experience! #celebrate379
It's never too early to rehearse for Stardusters! That's exactly what Mrs. Thrasher's band students were doing today. They already sound great! Stardusters will take place on March 27th. #celebrate379
This is Mr. Nordhus' first year teaching Coaching and Leadership at CCCHS. One of his goals in year one was to set up guest speakers from around the community to come talk about leadership roles in their careers.
Last Friday, my class got the opportunity to listen to assistant principal Greg Ferguson talk about how leadership impacts his career!
If you would be interested in being a guest speaker on future Fridays, please reach out to Mr. Nordhus. #celebrate379
