Mr. Roberts found a unique and fun way for his chemistry classes to review electron configuration today by playing Battleship! Students played against a partner by using the appropriate electron configuration to sink ships. #celebrate379
Freshmen in Ms. McFadden’s room work on vocabulary every week as part of the district-wide goal. This week, students took over teaching the vocabulary to their peers. This included writing the definition and part of speech on the board, along with helping the class brainstorm synonyms and antonyms. We may have some future teachers in our midst! #celebrate379
On October 30, the CCCHS Teaching as a Career students traveled to KSU for Future Teacher Day and explored what it means to be an EdCat. Their visit included a special small group session with Dr. Kimberly Staples, discovering the need for phenomena-based science education. #celebrate379

Mrs. Hughes starts most days with a "bell ringer" activity for her Spanish II class. Today, they used Schoology to review how to say the correct time in Spanish. They also used Blooket to race against each other to answer questions about daily routines. Both are easy ways to make learning fun! #celebrate379
Today, students in Mr. Roberts' Integrated Science class tested the rockets they built by conducting launch tests on the football field. The air-powered rockets traveled up to 82.5 yards!!! It was a great lesson on projectile motion. #celebrate379
It was a great turnout at both CCCHS and CCCMS to listen to Amy Neville speak about the dangers of social media. Amy will host a Q&A session following the documentary, "Can't Look Away" tonight. They are expecting a big crowd, so please come early! Doors open at 6:00, and the movie will begin at 6:30. It is about 75 minutes long. Mrs. Reichert's English 10 students wrapped up first quarter with a “deep dive” Socratic Discussion about the deeper meaning of William Golding’s novel “Lord of the Flies.” (Note the inspirational conch shell in the center of the circle!) #celebrate379
Mr. Craig's freshman Ag 101 class has had a busy and successful first quarter! Students in the class have learned about various careers in agriculture, planned a community service project, and completed in-depth explorations of soil science and management, and dairy farm management. The class made visits to community farms operated by Erica and AJ Carlson, Rick Chaffee, and Cott Family Farms to look at various soil profiles. The class also visited the Wohler family's 4J dairy to learn about the daily responsibilities of the dairy farmer.
All these experiences have led to success in FFA competitions! The Clay Center team placed 2nd at the Land/Soils evaluation (tied for 1st!), and took 1st place in the Dairy Cattle Evaluation competition. Various students have had top-10 performances throughout the school year thus far. #celebrate379

Mr. Phil Bone, Design and Pricing Manager from Wardcraft, came and talked to Mrs. Schooley's CAD students about his professional career and showed students some tricks with the 3D architect app, Revit. He was also given a tour of the Tiger House. #celebrate379
Yesterday, Mr Roberts' Chemistry students discussed the Periodic table and trends that happen as you move across the table. To help visualize this concept, students blew up balloons to represent the sizes of each element as they moved across the periodic table. #celebrate379
