Our Bengal Spotlight Featured PAWS class this week is... Mrs. McDonalds PAWS Class! Each morning, our PAWS classes meet from 8:10 - 8:30 am. Every PAWS Class at CCCMS consists of approximately 12-15 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. During these 20 minutes, students get organized for their day, engage in a weekly Social-Emotional Learning Lesson, have some great classroom discussions, compete in a PAWS Class vs. PAWS Class Sports Challenge, check their grades and academic progress, and have some fun each day! This week our Bengal Spotlight Featured Department is our Encore Teachers! They go above and beyond to encourage our students to find a skill in life that can make them happy, whether that is typing, computer programming, cooking, sewing, sports, bike riding, drawing, painting, agricultural careers, woodworking etc. this group of teachers helps them learn the fundamentals of such things! We would be lost without this group! Lisa Bauer has taught FACS at CCCMS for 25 years. She enjoys teaching life skills to her students and the variety of subjects in a comprehensive program. She enjoys spending time with her husband, three grown children, and eight grandchildren and also likes to travel, read, and garden. Marsha Argo has worked at CCCMS for 7 years. She started her teaching career at Longford and Wakefield as a Title I teacher. Then she spent 20+ years teaching reading and 5th grade at Garfield until she finally made the move to CCCMS, where she has taught reading interventions, writing, drama, and art. Mrs. Argo grew up in Clay Center and most of her family still resides here. She is married and has two sons. She is a huge K-State fan and loves to spend time with family and friends. She also loves to travel, draw, and cook. Mrs. Argo is happy to be part of the Bengal family! David Wichman has taught Computers at CCCMS for the past 4 years. He has taught math and science as well for a number of years previously. He enjoys playing drums for his church’s praise and worship team, gardening, and sports. He also enjoys time with family who lives in close proximity to the Clay Center area. Traci McDonald has been with CCCMS for several years and currently teaches P.E. Ashley Vahsholtz grew up in a town called Haven. It is between Hutchinson and Wichita. Her family owns a farm that consists of black and red angus cattle and agronomy crops. She graduated from Kansas State University in the spring of 2016 with a degree in Agricultural Education and a minor in Animal Science. Then in the spring of 2020, she graduated from Western Governors University with her masters degree in Curriculum and instruction. When she graduated with her undergraduate, she started her teaching career at Solomon Jr/Sr High School and was there for two years. Then in the fall of 2018, she started teaching at Clay Center and has been here for the last five years. She just recently got married on October 1st, 2022, and has two amazing children with her husband John. Her kids are Cooper who is a 1st grader and Madisyn who is in Pre-K 3yr olds. Brad Conner grew up in the Sandhills of Nebraska and moved to Clay Center to begin his teaching career. He has taught Drafting, CAD, architecture, and woodworking for over 30 years. He also has coached HS basketball, tennis, middle school volleyball, wrestling, and track. He is married and has two daughters. He enjoys working in the shop, spending time with his family, and watching sporting events.
