Today's "Like a Champion" Call of the Day is Kate Larson. Kate has been a tremendous leader in our school, using her voice and advocating for change among her peers and school. She is leading our bullying prevention group which has brought so many students and staff together to support a more kind, inclusive, and accepting school environment! Kate lives all the seven habits daily and we could not be more proud of her! Keep advocating for change Kate!

Our Bengal Spotlight Featured Team today is our 8th Grade Lady Bengals! They started their season strong yesterday and hope to continue that in Junction City today! We are excited to watch them learn and grow this season! Dick Ahlberg and Addy Mullin Lehman are the coaches of our 8th-grade team.

Way to Synergize, together is always better! Why to be a Champion Lizzy!!

A new week means a new Pillar of Leadership Employee of the Week recognition! This week, we recognize Mr. J.D. Lane! Mr. J.D. Lane exhibits all seven habits in his day-to-day work. At this time of year, he is sacrificing all of his time coaching morning and night while running a well-organized classroom. He is always ahead of the game to put out fires and his students understand his expectations. We greatly appreciate Mr. J.D. Lane and are pleased to recognize him as our Pillar of Leadership!

We are so proud of this group of Bengals that tried out and were selected for the NCKMEA Middle Level Honor Choir. They participated in this on Saturday in Junction City.

For our next Spotlight PAWS, we are recognizing Mr. Sleichter's class. They are a great group of kids who say their favorite PAWS activities are playing Silent Ball and competing in PAWS family challenges every week. A highlight so far this year is winning Sonic Drinks for being the first-place PAWS group on activity day. They have an amazing group of high achievers who are always ready to step up for the next challenge.

Mrs. Koster spends time each week with a spelling list. This isn't just a "memorize, test, forget" type of learning. They are making connections with prefixes, suffixes, and Greek/Latin roots that will help them with other words down the road. Today they partnered up and practiced the list together.

Mr. Lane has a unique way of maximizing learning in his 8th grade social studies class. After reading the assignment in their textbooks, students then watch a video prepared beforehand by Mr. Lane that talks more in-depth about the lesson. This way he can be teaching his students and helping them at the same time! Students also learn through creation, including these projects on Zebulon Pike's life and legacy.

It was Nitro Ball day in Ms. Roe's P.E. classes! This is a game similar to volleyball but with a lower net and fewer players on each side.

6th grade Science students in Mr. Walsh's classes were processing malachite ore into copper using sulfuric acid and iron powder. They are studying how the extraction and processing of ores, necessary for modern life, can result in short- and long-term consequences for the environment if not mined, processed and recycled properly.

Mrs. Griffiths celebrated Halloween with her 6th grade math classes with some candy and a "Ghosts in the Graveyard" story problem hunt around the room.

Today we have two Champions to share! Our "Like a Champion" Call of the day is Reece Richter and Keaton Bowser! When students were coming in from PAWS time outside this morning Reece and Keaton ran out to pick up all the basketballs, footballs, volleyballs, and frisbees left outside by their peers. Thanks for being Proactive Bengals! Great Job!!

Students in Mrs. Argo’s 8th grade Art class had a fun week participating in “Halloween Wars” (similar to the Food Network version). Teams had five days to design and create a diorama based on one of three themes. They had to write a backstory that included 3 characters and include a gourd and a recycled item. Winners of the overall contest won a pizza lunch party. Pictured are: Overall winners, Best Diorama, and Best Story.

Students in Mrs. Argo’s 6th grade Bengal Writing class at CCCMS were given a homework assignment with family involvement encouraged. They were to create a Jack-O-Lantern out of anything but a pumpkin! In class, students wrote descriptions and backstories about their creations and presented them to the class. There were three categories: Creepiest, Most Original, and Funniest. Pictured are the winners and their Jack-O-Lanterns.
