Mr. Couch's Cabinet Making class is part of the Construction & Design pathway through Career Technical Education. It focuses on preparing students for professions involved in designing, planning, managing, and executing projects in the built environment. Freshmen Health students have been working with representatives from Relate 360, a group of educators who help share the message of healthy relationships. Based in Manhattan, this group takes a wholesome and comprehensive approach to relationships and human sexuality. Relate 360 also presented to all USD #379 freshmen Health students earlier this year.

Mrs. Ehlers uses small groups to help her 3rd grade students learn math each day. Today, they were using manipulatives, white boards, an online math game, and practice worksheets to learn about equivalent fractions.

USD 379 will be on a two-hour delay for Thursday, February 20, 2025. There will be no morning preschool.
Adjusted start times by two hours:
CCCMS, CCCHS, and Wakefield: 10:10 AM
LES and GES: 10:25 AM
Bus pick up and door open times - Two hours adjusted from normal
We will continue to watch the weather and the wind chill this evening and overnight. Our road crew will be checking roads early tomorrow morning. If the plan changes for school tomorrow, we will alert you by 6:00 am.

Mr. Couch has been a great mid-year addition to Wakefield High School. Today, he was working with the Intro to Industrial Arts class to determine their next project. Students have a big role in deciding what they could create.

Mrs. Rooney had her elementary art students working on a variety of projects today, including making Valentine collages and completing guided step-by-step art projects.

Mrs. Bergmeier's computer apps class is currently working on rebranding logos and brands. These can include everything from Nike to Wakefield's Bomber logo. They were coming up with some pretty cool and unique ideas!

The USD 379 County Spelling Bee was held today at CCCHS. After working their way through their building spelling bee competitions earlier in the year, 4th through 8th graders from around the district competed to earn the title of Spelling Bee champion.
In the end, it was a Sister Spell Off! Kate Larson finished first, with her sister Rosie finishing as the alternate. Kate will now move on to the Sunflower State Spelling Bee, which will be held on March 22 in Salina.
Congratulations to winners and all of the contestants. Standing up in front of an audience takes some guts!

The Wakefield School Spelling Bee was held last Friday, February 7th. These winners will now go to the Clay County Spelling Bee on Thursday, Feb. 13th, which will begin at 9:30 a.m. in the CCCHS auditorium.
