Mrs. Thrasher and Mr. Eyermann's CCCHS and CCCMS bands spent time yesterday spreading Christmas cheer by playing carols in the hallways for their peers.

Mrs. Bergsten's Tiger Chorale ended this year's performance schedule by singing for the Clay Center Rotary. This was one of many community performances in 2024!
Students in Mrs. Craig's Human Growth and Development class have been learning about the areas of child development (physical, intellectual, emotional and social.) Last week, they interviewed LES preschoolers in Miss Kristi and Miss Kaity's classes by asking them questions relating to these four areas. CCCHS students enjoyed the opportunity to connect with the preschoolers in their classroom, as well as experience firsthand what children this age know and are capable of doing. One student shared: "I liked that we got to see what kids think like now."
The CCCHS Singing Christmas Tree performance is in its 69th year of existence. One of the best traditions involved with the performance is having the Lincoln, Garfield, and CCCMS students come to watch them perform on Friday morning. Besides giving the CCCHS choirs a chance to practice before the actual event (Sunday, Dec. 15 2 pm), it also shows the younger generation of students what they could be a part of if they want to sing in high school. As always, it is a wonderful show!
This morning, a vehicle transporting USD 379 students on a college visit was in an accident. Thankfully, no serious injuries were reported. Parents have been contacted, and plans are in place to bring everyone home safely.

CCCHS staff members were given a special treat of Torch Coffee this morning. Tovah Catlin, CCCHS internship student at Torch Coffee, helped plan and execute the event. Baristas were Emma Frigon and Ezri Catlin.

Mrs. Hamel's class continued their unit on holiday traditions with a class tradition! Each year they make sugar cookies for the staff to decorate. Students in her class also make and decorate cookies to take home to their families. Mrs. Hamel has worked hard to receive grants to help provide adaptive equipment to make cooking lessons accessible to ALL of her students.
Mr. Roberts' integrated science classes are in the middle of building robotic vehicles. This particular one even has a camera that can be viewed from an iPad! After they are built, students will program them to complete a task without using controls on their end.
YLink's Karaoke Night is immediately after the basketball game this Friday. Stick around for snacks, hot chocolate, karaoke, dodgeball, and ornament painting and crafts! The event is completely free for students.
As part of their finals grade, Mrs. Ware is having her Calculus students create a school-wide scavenger hunt that will be given in February. They have to use math equations and numbers around the school to help the students solve problems. This is a fun activity that is becoming an annual event at CCCHS!
Mrs. Craig is using the last part of the semester with her Health classes going over the six classes of nutrients and their functions in relation to how they can help the body.
Throughout the year, Mr. Nordhus is bringing in speakers to talk to his Personal Finance class about practical financing decisions they will be making after leaving high school. Today, he welcomed Justin Tadtman and Renee Langvardt from Farm Bureau Financial Services to talk about his profession and the different types of insurance that can be purchased.
