Mrs. Reichert's English sophomores engaged in a lively Socratic Circle discussion of the novel “Into the Wild” by Jon Krakauer. #celebrate379

CCCHS & WHS have won 31 state championships between the two schools.

Today marks 100 years of speech and debate in education. We are thankful that both CCCHS and Wakefield have speech/debate and/or forensics. Mrs. Blackburn is the advisor at CCCHS and Kerri Butler is the advisor at WHS. #celebrate379

Today at the Clay Center Rotary meeting, students in Mrs. Flegler's Ag Business Management class competed in the "Young Entrepreneurship Challenge" sponsored by Grow Clay County. Students created a model of current businesses they are running or ideas that they would like to get off the ground. Each entry was judged, and winners were announced at the end of the meal. There are some great entrepreneurs at CCCHS! #celebrate379

Today in Mr. Craig's Ag Science class, students were learning about the phases of estrous (the period of sexual receptivity when a cow stands to be mounted). Think of it as the "birds and the bees" talk in a farmer's terms! #celebrate379

CCCHS Senior Intern Spotlight #celebrate379

It's max out season in Mr. Haist's strength and conditioning classes! At the end of each quarter, all students max out on bench press, squat, vertical jump, and hang clean. The goal is always improvement, but a select few get their names posted on the Tiger Power Records board. #celebrate379

If you have seen any kind of wood projects around CCCHS, there is a good chance that Mr. Conner's class made them. Today, his students were making a dinner table and specialized gun racks for the new Rusty Trigger Gun Shop in Clay Center. #celebrate379

It was test review day in Mr. Schooley's Algebra 1 class. After the test, they are going to go over new vocabulary for the week. This is something all classes are doing across the district to help increase vocabulary, which has been found to be a key component to increasing state assessment and ACT scores. #celebrate379

It's always concert season in Mrs. Bergsten's choir classes! Today, they were working on the parts that make a whole in preparation for a large group ensemble contest in April. #celebrate379

Coming from a large school, Genevieve loved the small-town atmosphere at CCCHS. She is well on her way to becoming an amazing teacher! What do you love about USD 379? #celebrate379

Why choose 379? We have a community who supports our students even after they graduate! #celebrate379

Thank you to the CCCHS advisory board members who attended our yearly brief dealing with the pathways available at CCCHS. We are thankful for the feedback and advice you provide to strengthen our programs!

For at least the past 15 years, the CCCHS government classes have participated in mock trials. Government teachers develop actual cases that took place locally and regionally over the past decades (there are 4 cases in all). Seniors are then chosen as lawyers, witnesses, and jurors. Defendants and prosecutors research the facts and come up with a plan. They call witnesses and cross-examine. In the end, an actual jury gives their verdict.
It is a great way to learn about our county and district court system and how it works. We are very thankful to the Clay County Court House staff for allowing our kids this opportunity!
CCCHS alumni, what do you remember about your experience with the mock trial?

Mrs. Artman's graphic design class is in the middle of developing vacation brochures. This is the beginning of an end-of-year final that will have them create an entire branding campaign.

Mrs. Stratton's Algebra II students were focusing on rationalizing denominators today. Have no idea what that means? Don't worry, neither do we! Her students, however, were all over it!
