Coming from a large school, Genevieve loved the small-town atmosphere at CCCHS. She is well on her way to becoming an amazing teacher! What do you love about USD 379? #celebrate379

Why choose 379? We have a community who supports our students even after they graduate! #celebrate379

Thank you to the CCCHS advisory board members who attended our yearly brief dealing with the pathways available at CCCHS. We are thankful for the feedback and advice you provide to strengthen our programs!

For at least the past 15 years, the CCCHS government classes have participated in mock trials. Government teachers develop actual cases that took place locally and regionally over the past decades (there are 4 cases in all). Seniors are then chosen as lawyers, witnesses, and jurors. Defendants and prosecutors research the facts and come up with a plan. They call witnesses and cross-examine. In the end, an actual jury gives their verdict.
It is a great way to learn about our county and district court system and how it works. We are very thankful to the Clay County Court House staff for allowing our kids this opportunity!
CCCHS alumni, what do you remember about your experience with the mock trial?

Mrs. Artman's graphic design class is in the middle of developing vacation brochures. This is the beginning of an end-of-year final that will have them create an entire branding campaign.

Mrs. Stratton's Algebra II students were focusing on rationalizing denominators today. Have no idea what that means? Don't worry, neither do we! Her students, however, were all over it!

Throughout the school year, different college reps will stop in to CCCHS to meet with prospective students. Kansas State took it a step further today by meeting with students who have already been accepted. They talked about next steps and answered any questions the seniors had.

It is assessment day in Mr. Schooley's Algebra 1 class! Students were being tested on Systems of Equations using substitution and elimination. Although Mr. Schooley was SURE that students spent their entire day off studying for the test, he decided to give them some extra study time to start the class before taking the test.

Last night, CCCHS Assistant Principal/Activities Director Greg Ferguson was surprised to learn that he was the 2025 recipient of the Orange & Black Pack "Spirit Award". This award is given annually to someone who goes above and beyond to support CCCHS students and their activities. Very much deserved!

Mr. Nordhus brought back an old friend to talk to his Personal Finance class. He student taught under Logan Miner, who is now the CFO in training at Union State Bank. Logan talked to the class about his job and how to be responsible with money both now and in the future. It's another great example of community members taking an active role in our school and district!

The students in Mrs. Affolter's Earth Science class have been learning about Earth's mineral resources and their value. Last week the students participated in a task where they used their collective knowledge from the unit to determine where to find a large mineral deposit. They also learned how to read a topographic map, they were introduced to start-up capital, and they experienced Net Gain vs. Net Loss in business ventures!

Mrs. Hughes' Spanish II students are reading a book on Felipe Alou, the first baseball player from the Dominican Republic to play regularly in the major leagues. Students first went over the vocabulary in the all Spanish book and then answered comprehension questions as they went through the chapters.
